Simon Johnson opened the scoring for Leeds after thirty minutes and five minutes later Jamie McMaster doubled their lead. They held that two goal lead until six minutes after half time when Mark Allott reduced the arrears for the home team. Aaron Lennon, goalkeeper Shaun Allaway, Martin Woods, Robbie Shields, Nick Gray and Robbie Constable were the Leeds United substitutes. Former Leeds Junior Striker, Caleb Folan, came on as a second half substitute for Chesterfield, other Chesterfield players on the bench were Strikers Jamie Burt, David Reeves, Mark Smith, Goalkeeper Andy Richmond, Defenders Kevin Dawson and Jean Phillipe Javery, Midfielders Andy Rushbury and Stephen Warne. The Referee was Carl Boyeson (Hull).
